Nona

As promised (see previous post) here is Nanu's little friend. She's called Nona and is 5 months old. Shih-tzus are adorable but shih-tzu puppies are good enough to eat!

Nanu

The lady who owns this little shih-tzu also has another shih-tzu - a puppy (we'll see her next time) and at home in Switzerland, she has four other dogs. I met Nanu enjoying the sunshine near the swimming pool in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

Galinette

This adorable bundle is a miniature shih-tzu. I'd not heard of a miniature before. She is of course only a puppy - 8 weeks - and is the new companion of Boutchette, the Bassett Hound, who you've met before and they absolutely adore each other.

She is called Galinette from the book Manon des Sources by Marcel Pagnol. Perhaps you saw the film. And the reason for her name is that she was an anniversary present from Naila to Yvan (owners of the Beausejour restaurant in Gorbio) and their beautiful daughter is called Manon.

Beautiful daughter, beautiful puppy!

Read a review of Le Beau Sejour in Gorbio.

'Here's looking at you, kid'

This little shih-tzu lives with Riva, the bling-bling Labrador we saw on Avenue Princesse Grace in Monaco the other day. Look at his expression...would you say he's looking down his nose at me? His name - Berlioz.

Anubia

Copyright 2009 Riviera Dogs. All rights reserved

Anubia is the house-mate of Robbie who we met in the last posting.

Anubia is a 4 year old Shih-tzu and she lives with François, the gentleman you see on the right of the smaller photo. He, like his father, used to run the Restaurant Beausejour in the village. It's now run by his son, Yvan. You get great food at the Beausejour. The gentleman on the left is François' friend Michel.

Ophelia

This little bundle of joy is only 5 months old. Unfortunately she is half blind but she seemed to be doing very well.

Don't you just love her little winter coat. She's posing here in Menton's Christmas market.

Shaka

Meet Shaka - a Shih-tzu crossed with a Yorkie. Cute mix. 9 years old and living in Gorbio, near to Menton. I met this adorable bundle when I walked up to the village to the see the art exhibition there.

Funnily enough Lucky (see the post a few days ago) is also a Shih-tzu X Yorkie but quite a different colour and look.

Canaille

Just a pup. 10 months old and adorable. Canaille lives on the Route de Gorbio in Menton. Seen here in Gorbio village, she was brought up for the Blessing of the Animals.

Canaille has several meanings but here it means 'rogue' or 'little devil' - in other words a term of endearment.

Ramses

Meet Ramses, sitting on the sea wall in Menton. His nice owners reminded me that I'd photographed 3 year old Ramses before but that he'd never appeared on the blog. I simply couldn't remember what happened but, of course, I remembered the name and the dog. When I got home I realised that he was in the first batch I'd taken with my new camera (this camera) and after I uploaded them, I wiped the card before they'd been copied to the hard drive. Duh! So apologies to Ramses' owners but here he is at last! They commented last night that he needs grooming - well I think he's just gorgeous and rather dignified, don't you think, 'King of the Seawall.'

Tomorrow, meet Ramses' friend, Glinka.

Morning walk

I met these three gorgeous Shih-tzus walking along the promenade above Larvotto Beach in Monte Carlo. They were being walked by a really nice guy who works for their owner.

He gave me their names but stupidly I'd left my pen in the car and can only remember two of them - Valentina and Petrea.

You'll find 'The Butcher's Dog' today on Menton Daily Photo. Just click on the link.

Monaco Dog Show - 'And God Created Dog'

Perhaps they are fed up with all that brushing? These two shih-tzus are taking a rest from the exhausting business of looking beautiful. The one on the left - see below - has a hairstyle I've never seen in the showring before, but perhaps I've not looked at Shihtzus in the ring lately - true. Sure she must think she's Brigitte Bardot and we've gone back to the sixties. Have you ever seen the 1956 film - And God Created Woman?

Nutella

Time for Nutella to have a haircut. She's in the Salon de Toilettage of my friend, Carla, in Menton.

Nutella is 4 years old and is the mother of Carla's own shih-tzu, Billy - named after Billy Jean King, the tennis champion. Billy is in the pic on the left.

Nutella, by the way, is the name of a chocolate spread in France!

Bandit

This is Bandit, a 2 year old shih-tzu from Burgundy. He was on holiday in Menton with his owners and I snapped him just outside the market area. I think he's used to being photographed as he happily posed without moving - look at those gorgeous eyes.

Ol' blue eye

Isn't this the bluest eye you ever saw? Is it real? Could it be a glass eye? I've seen eyes as blue as this in Old English Sheepdogs but I've never seen it before in a Shih-Tzu and apparently it's not acceptable in the breed standard. Perhaps his eye was damaged as this can result in it turning blue - I suspect this is the case here. Owner and dog are taking a rest outside a pharmacy in Menton.
