Eros getting ready for the New Year

My friend, Carla, has a Poodle Parlour in Menton and when I called in the other day, she was smartening up this little Jack Russell type dog for the New Year. He's called Eros and lives in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

All the luck...

Some dogs have all the luck, don't they? This little Jack Russell loves his walks - with all the good smells - around Port Hercule in Monaco.

Cali

This cute little 3 year old Jack Russell lives in Menton and was watching the display put on by the Newfoundlands last month.

The Jack Russell and the Razor

It's not often a car interests me as much as a dog! This sexy little number is called a Ranger RZR and is made by Polaris. You can read all about it on Monte Carlo Daily Photo today.

The little Jack Russell was waiting for his owner who was lunching at Stars n Bars on the port of Monaco.

Camilla, Susie and Nina - the Peas in a Pod

Aren't they alike? Like peas in a pod or Jack Russells in a litter. In fact they are mother and two daughters - not sure which is which although I'd imagine the mother is on the left. She's called Camilla and is ten and a half. The daughters are Susie and Nina and they are eight.

They were in Menton but in fact live in Turin.

Jack

Cheating really...I don't know if this little Jack Russell Terrier's name is Jack or not but the French often call this breed a 'Jack' - rather as they call football 'le foot.'

As you see, a rough Mediterranean in Menton after days and days of rain but Jack is having the best time rummaging amongst the detritus thrown up by the sea.

Kendra

Looks like this little puppy is where she wants to be. Her owners were walking her around crowded Ventimiglia market one Friday.

Kendra is two months old and lives in Ventimiglia. She is a Jack Russell Terrier and it looks like she's landed well and truly on her feet.

Patience

Dogs are so patient. I often say this and I suppose, on a lead, they don't have much choice. Knowing dogs tho, they'd probably not stray far, even off lead. Look at the patience of this little dog - happy to be with his owner.

Lancelot

Normally I feature a close-up of a dog as the main photograph but on this occasion I couldn't resist Lancelot (Sir Lancelot I believe) doing what he loves best...exploring.

I met 2 year old Lancelot at a friend's house in Sainte Agnès, a hill village above Menton - in fact Sainte Agnès is the highest village in Europe with a view of the sea and that is some view! For anyone interested, the village is currently being featured on Menton Daily Photo where the village recently celebrated the Fête de Lavande.

Lancelot who was bred in Italy lives in Menton with his Irish owner. He's a Jack Russell although I feel he might have just a touch of Staffie in him. A lovely little dog. (click to enlarge his photo)

The Market Dog

This little Jack Russell wants for nothing. Soft blanket, water bowl and a few croquettes spread around should he be hungry and best of all, his owner nearby. Far better than being left at home.

The Foot Ball

Using his owner's foot as a ball, perhaps this dog is a little confused. He was near to the Botero sculpture of Adam & Eve in Monaco yesterday.

The Spectator

Like everyone else, this little Jack Russell is waiting for the Prince to arrive outside the cathedral in Monaco on the occasion of the Fête Nationale. I didn't like to interrupt his owner's enjoyment of the parades and ask his name. So intense, isn't he? Just moved his head as I snapped so his face isn't quite in focus. We can learn a lot from dogs on the subject of patience!

Jimmy

Jimmy is a nearly 14 year old Parson Jack Russell terrier belonging to a super lady called Jilly - well she has to be super - same name as me! Jilly lives in Roquebrune-cap-Martin and she runs with a running group called Les Foulées Roquebrunois.

Remember the sheep on Menton Daily Photo - Woolite, the sheep, is the running club's mascot.

Fun in the Sun

This Jack Russell terrier was having the BEST time on the beach at Roquebrune-cap-Martin yesterday. Here he has just swum back to shore after retrieving the ball his master threw for him. You'll see another photo of this cute dog on Menton Daily Photo today - saying Bonjour to a sheep, who also swam in the sea.

The Wet Dogs

The little Jack Russell so wants to play with the big dog but, no chance, he's on a lead. Two wet dogs having a day on the beach in Menton.

Summertime Fun

Another beach dog. I don't have a name, nor that of the little Jack Russell in the smaller photo. Just dogs having fun on one of the Menton dog beaches.

Ciska

This Jack Russell was tiny. I thought she was about 4 months but apparently she is 10 months old. She was in the pedestrian street of Menton - licking the pavement at one point (something must have smelled good!) - Ciska lives Paris.

His Master's Voice Dog?

A patient little Jack Russell type of dog at the Brocante in Menton. He reminds me a little of the His Master's Voice dog - remember those adverts...you'll need to be old!

Clipper - Tintin's dog?

This little 5 month bundle of trouble is called Clipper and belongs to friends who live in south western France and in Monaco. He is a replacement for Scupper, who died far too young. You can read Scupper's story by clicking on the link.

To me, Clipper looks so much like Tintin's dog, Milou - called Snowy in England. His ears don't stick up but he has that look - probably because he hasn't yet got full pigmentation around his eyes. If you don't know Hergé's famous Tintin stories, do click on the link.

This last photograph - below - is out of focus, but I'm using it cos in this he really is Milou/Snowy! I wonder if he'll have as many adventures in his life as Tintin's dog. I sure hope so.
